My name is Mr. Maltese and I am a math teacher at VCMS on Team Endeavor.
I graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1997 with a BA in Education and in 1998 with a MA in Education. In 2007 I completed a 6th Year program in Education Administration at Sacred Heart University. I was hired in the Spring of 1998 at VCMS and taught 7th and 8th grade math until 2009 where I served as an Assistant Principal at Rockville High School for two school years. I return to VCMS this fall entering my 14th year of service with the Vernon Public Schools.
In addition to teaching I have also been involved in coaching interscholastic athletics. At VCMS I have served as soccer, basketball, and softball coach, as well as the advisor to both the Math Olympiad and MathCOUNTS teams. At Rockville HIgh School I was the the JV Boys' Soccer coach in 2001 and the Varsity Boys' Soccer coach from 2002-2005. I was also the Rams Varsity Softball coach from 2002-2009 where the girls won eight straight CCC league titles and currently serve as the RHS Assistant Softball Coach.
Outside of school I can be found playing basketball, tennis, and card games. I am an avid UCONN Huskies basketball, football, and soccer fan and also root for the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, and New York Yankees. I also enjoy spending time with my wife, daughter, and dog as we like to visit parks and zoos, go to various beaches, and cook together trying different recipes.
